 Last week, Dominic shared his favorite stuffy collection and his mom's "Lord of the Rings" figurines.

Dino Bones

Scott showed us fossils that he found in the Badlands of Alberta.

I couldn't resist this shot of Shayla as Scott talks about coprolite.  You'll have to ask your child what coprolite is in order to understand Shayla's perfect expression.

We used fossil moulds and plaster to create our own plaster fossil casts .  This is similar to the technique that a paleontologist would use to replicate a fossil.

While we wait for our fossil casts to dry, we excavate a dig site.

Scott shows us a real fossil cast.

We carefully try to put the discovered bones back together using clues at the dig site.

Here are a few of the fossils we made.  I kept a list of each students fossil.  Contact me if you have forgotten what your fossil is.

Student of the Week- Feb. 4 - 8

Melia

Our special student this week was Melia.  She shared and spoke about a beautiful ceramic cupcake she made and her silly band collection.  Our students continue to impress each as they speak clearly and willingly about their poster and interests.  Nicely done, Melia!

Friendship Fruit Salad

Our focus is on friendship this month and sharing a snack we all contributed to was a nice way to spend Valentine's Day.   Thank you to families for the fruit donations for the salad.  As you can see had more than enough for seconds...and thirds.  

The girls start making the salad.  We all added our fruit and created a delicious masterpiece.
