Sarah

During her presentation Sarah shared her favorite new hoodie after she told us all about her likes and interests.  Super job this week, Sarah!

Luxton Historical Archives Visit

Our class had the opportunity to visit the Luxton Historical Archives and go through a number of stations in small groups.  Some of the stations included grinding wheat, writing with ink and a quill, washing and wringing clothing, and using phones and typewriters from different eras.  Students were also able to view and touch items from the last hundred years such as newspapers and sit in the original Happy Valley school house desks.  The archives has an incredible collection of material from the school and community over the past century.  

Cross-Country Superstars!

Congratulations to our amazing Spring cross-country runners!  Sara, Jesse, Ali, James, Brooke, Hayden, Shayla, Hannah, Nick, and Arianna all practiced for weeks and ran their hearts out at the two district meets.  Have you ever seen such a happy group of runners?  Well done!

*Unfortunately, James is missing from the photos taken today.  Apologies to James but he must have been going too quickly.

Student of the Week- April 8- 12

JENNA

During her presentation, Jenna showed her classmates her arm cast from grade one and her favorite stuffy that she got when she was a baby.  She did a wonderful job telling about herself, answering questions, and sharing her favorite things.

Classroom News

This month we welcomed Miss Zischka to Div. 9.  She is a practicum student from the University of Victoria and she will spend three weeks observing, working with individual students and small groups, and teaching three lessons in Math and three in Physical Education. 

Our class is responsible for creating a Coffee/Tea basket for the Spring Fair.  If you are willing to contribute, please send your items in with your son or daughter.  Each class' basket is then auctioned off at the Spring Fair in May.  We greatly appreciate your kind contributions as all money raised is used to support our students at Happy Valley.  Thank you PAC!!

Investigating Garden Soil

Last week students investigated forest soil and this week they took a close look at garden soil, before  comparing the two different soil types.
