Rose- Scientist Of The Day

Today we had Rose as our scientist of the day!  She did an excellent job performing the Egg and Bottle experiment.  Rose changed the temperature of the air in the bottle allowing the egg to drop inside. Thankfully we didn't set the smoke alarm off!

Take Me Outside

Tomorrow is "Take Me Outside Day" and our class is one of 450 classes across the country participating, in an effort to move classroom learning outside.  Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately as we'll be outdoors, rain or shine!

Owen - Scientist Of The Day

Today our scientist was Owen!  He presented the colour mix experiment where blue and yellow water were layered to look green.  He did an awesome job by using a loud and confident voice.  Well done Owen.

Shayla- Scientist Of The Day

Shayla was our Scientist Of The Day!  What a fantastic job she did as our first presenter.  Shayla demonstrated the Bottle Balloon Experiment where air expands when it is heated and inflates a balloon.

 

 

Phases Of The Moon

We had a blast looking and tasting the phases of the moon.  Working in partners, we opened up Oreo cookies and recreated the phases of the moon by moving the icing around. Of course eating them at the end was the best part.

Take Me Outside

Next Thursday, Div. 9 is joining other classes across Canada by spending part of our school morning outdoors.   We'll be having an outdoor picnic snack, going on a nature walk on the Galloping Goose, creating repeating and increasing patterns using nature materials, collecting natural art supplies, and doing a fitness activity.  Information and a permission slip (for the Galloping Goose walk) will be going home in tomorrow's agenda.  This will be a RAIN OR SHINE activity so be ensure your child is dressed appropriately on Thurs., October 24.  For more information, visit http://takemeoutside.ca/tmo-day.  It should be a fun day for all.
