Spider Presentation

Despite the initial heebie-jeebies, we all enjoyed our spider presentation by Swan Lake naturalist, Scott M.  The morning was packed with all kinds of information about spiders around the world and on Vancouver Island.

Scott introduces Rosebud the Tarantula to Div. 9.  At this point, we're not so sure how we feel about Rosebud.

We take turns shaking hands with the tarantula once we learn that it's rare to get bitten by a tarantula and the tarantula bite isn't deadly.

Keira is afraid of spiders but she didn't get scared when it was close to her.

Kaleb shook a leg with Rosebud.

Serina, Ben, Ben, Kyla, Henri, and Eric were very interested in the Mexican Tarantula.

Kyla is pictured here with Charlotte, the Mexican tarantula.  Charlotte shed her exoskeleton over the long weekend and we got to see that too.

Australian Leaf Bug.  Scott told us the difference between insects and spiders.

Spider exoskeleton.

Liam was brave to hold this insect!

The boys have an animated discussion about spiders after looking at the different types in the books.

The leaf bug doesn't want to let go of Henri.

Half-girl, half-spider.
